High Quality Imagery

The most important part of any digital edition is the quality. It is what you present to the reader, it is what you say about yourself.

Most Flash digital editions look awful frankly. Small windows displaying text stored as JPEGs. We use a fantastic Flash software called FlipViewer because it renders pages more cleanly than any other.

In fact, if you can find one that does it better just let us know. And if you would like to see your publication in FlipViewer just send us a copy or ask for a free trial licence. FlipViewer can be used as an in-house software by your company or as part of our production services. 

Rich Media

A key reason to digitise publications is to add an extra dimension: video, audio, animation or simple response tools that let your readers and customers talk back to you.

Delivering a high-quality service can be technically demanding. Talk to us about your requirements and we can either take care of it on your behalf or provide tools and assistance to help you run a better service in-house.

Customisation

Digital editions are about your relationship with your readers and customers. They are not about us. It is very important therefore that you have full flexibility in the way in which you customise all parts in the delivery chain that viewers see. 

FlipViewer lets you choose the background colour, the logo, the style of icons and which ones are active.

Customer Data

All of our publications can be made secure and put behind an authentication barrier. We will provide the inftractructure for you to control access but we do not typically keep customer data. Where possible  we connect to your databases by web services.

Don't worry if you are not that high tech - we can also provide simple solutions to let you send secure editions to readers.  

We can provide e-commerce add-ons to let readers buy access or subscription. All digital editions provide full traffic statistics via google Analytics. 

Portal

The searchable portal is one of the most important innovations we have made for clients. Emailing readers with links to individual issues does not work as a distribution means. But by providing them with access to back issues, and making the contents of all issues searchable through one search box, readers get a valuable and valued resource.  

Make your digital editions a destination site. Also consider adding:

• - authentication so that they need to sign in and protect all of your content

• - advertiement space into the portal around the digital issues

• - deliver white papers, video or other messages for your advertisers and partners

Text View

A unique feature of one digitisation software we run in-house is its ability to generate a text-view of stories. This makes it the ideal production software for publcations which are also output  for the iPad and mobile devices.

But it is also a critical option to consider for any publication with long or complex articles. The reality is that people do not tend to read for long periods on a screen unless the text can be formated in a linear view. With text-view we can also allow the reader to print a plain-text view, email-a-friend, even instantly translate it or have it read to them.

Easy Navigation

Each digital edition has a table of contents, making it fast and easy for readers to navigate. Each edition is also fully searchable we can search across multiple issues. 

Back Issues

The portal serves as a digital archive and can contain as many back-issues as you like. We have a seperate archiving software for large scale archives, including newspapers. 

Page Zero

One of our most popular innovations is the one we call 'Page Zero', because it is a page that lives before the first, or last page, or a magazine. The Page Zero can be pretty much what you want it to be. Here are some popular ideas:

- a simple welcome message for your readers, with your logo and a quick 'how to use guide'

- important information for readers, such as a special subscription offer

- offering readers an option to sign-up for a new service or register for an event

- a video message from the editor, or an advertiser; an animated mesage or advert

- Links to other relevant publications, white papers or back-issues
