We host digital editions on behalf of our clients at our fully-redundant N+1 data centre.

Our storage devices and servers are optimised to deliver digital magazines. As well as being fully redundant and load-balanced, our data is backed-up every three hours and taken off-site every 24 hours giving peace of mind.

Our data centre is totally secure with multiple power and internet connections which means that your publications should never go offline. In the event of an emergency we offer 24/7 support.

Hosting Prices
We include an allowance towards the costs of hosting in most of our production prices. The variable over which we have no control is usage. We estimate a fair-use basis is up to 2GB of data served per publication per month. Around 80% of publications use less than 2GB per month.

We monitor data served on a title-by-title basis as the fairest indication of usage and charge £10 per GB per month for those publications which use more than 2GB.

Our standard terms are that we will host publications for 12 months from the date of creation. If you want to keep publications live for longer than 12 months we charge a monthly storage fee of £25 per title per month which includes 1GB of data served. Overage is charged at £10 per GB per month.

Self-hosting Options
To host Olive publications on your servers you need some of the server side software components installed on your servers. This can be provided but at extra costs and will incur an annual software licence fee. Provided you allow us access to your servers we can still carry out production on your behalf, publishing the finished magazine to your servers rather than ours.

However, there are some further things to consider. We have set up Google Analytics on our servers to generate statistics on all publications. Unless you replicate this you will almost certainly forfeit any statistics if you self-host. If you want to add authentication to your publications this also needs to be set-up server-side.

Sub-domain Delegation
You can make invisible to your readers that files are being called from a server which is outside of your domain. If you allocate a sub-domain to the digital magazine ie emag.yourdomain.com and point this to our servers your magazines will be served from your URL.
